Antimicrobial Resistance on agenda at London Vet Show
09 November 2012
The issue of antimicrobial resistance will be on the agenda at the London Vet Show with the team from Dechra Veterinary Products meeting delegates to talk about their flagship 2012 campaign.
Dechra will be exhibiting at the event, offering support material from the Time to Change campaign launched amid a growing concern surrounding the issues of antimicrobial resistance.
During the clinical programme at London Vet Show, Dr Tim Nuttall, RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology, will also be speaking on the subject, exploring the nature of the threat to animal welfare, human health and veterinary practice and giving advice on responsible antimicrobial use.
Dechra Veterinary Products' Senior Brand Manager Larry King said: “The Time to Change campaign aims to support veterinary professionals through a holistic best practice approach to managing ear disease.
“It focuses on a three step approach to addressing otitis externa: Diagnose, Control and Maintain. It supports veterinary professionals by providing assistance in diagnosing the organisms associated with otitis externa, supporting them in choosing the correct approach to control as well as helping to educate owners on the use of topical antibiotic treatments.
“We're looking forward to welcoming delegates at the London Vet Show when the team will be on hand to explain more about Time to Change and offer support materials including our cytology guides which have proved popular with veterinary professionals since the launch of the campaign.”
A website has been launched to coincide with the campaign which provides online CPD focusing on skin and ear cytology, presented by Peter Forsythe BVM&S DVD MRCVS RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology.
