Dechra’s Commitment to Continued Supply in Northern Ireland Post-Windsor Framework
01 August 2025
Dechra acknowledges the ongoing concerns regarding the future availability of veterinary medicines in Northern Ireland following Brexit and during the current grace period that is in place until 31 December 2025. On 19 June 2025, the UK Government issued a policy paper, supported by technical guidance from VMD, that confirmed that the Windsor Framework rules governing the distribution of veterinary medicines in Northern Ireland will apply in full from 1 January 2026. From that date, in order to maintain Northern Ireland’s full access to the EU’s single market, the movement of veterinary medicines into Northern Ireland must comply with relevant EU rules under the Windsor Framework.
To ensure continuity of supply and regulatory compliance in Northern Ireland, Dechra has had a dedicated project team to review our product licences. Well in advance of the UK position above being published, we have been proactively updating the impacted products in our portfolio ahead of the end of the grace period to ensure minimal impact to our customers.
What does this mean for you?
No product withdrawals: Although the UK Government policy paper references estimated figures of product discontinuations in Northern Ireland, Dechra will continue to offer the same portfolio. We are only withdrawing licences for a small number of dormant products.
Supply continuity: We've been working hard behind the scenes to align our product licences and packaging to meet upcoming regulatory changes. Therefore, no disruption to the supply of our products is anticipated.
Our commitment to you
Dechra is dedicated to ensuring ongoing access to our veterinary medicines in Northern Ireland and across all markets. As we approach the end of the grace period, we will keep you informed and supported every step of the way.
