Intubeaze

A quick spray makes intubation easier in cats

Cats can be difficult to intubate due to their small size, unique anatomy and sensitive larynx. However it is vital you are able to perform endotracheal intubation safely in feline patients. This ensures a safe airway is maintained, provides effective ventilation and reduces theatre pollution from volatile agents.

Cats can have a sensitive larynx, which can be prone to laryngospasm during intubation. This can make intubation more difficult and can even cause respiratory obstruction.

Using Intubeaze, a topical local anaesthetic spray, prior to intubation desensitises the laryngeal mucosa, preventing stimulation of the laryngeal reflex to reduce the risk of laryngospasm and make intubation easier.

Designed specifically for use in cats

Intubeaze has been designed specifically for use in cats and has an easy to use nozzle which is shaped for use within the small space of the cat’s pharynx. The pump delivers a gentle, consistent spray pattern over the required area without causing stimulation of the laryngeal reflex during application, which could happen if a liquid was used directly on the mucosa. The nozzle can be removed quickly and easily for cleaning.

Using Intubeaze

Simply apply 1 or 2 sprays of Intubeaze to the cat’s laryngopharyngeal mucosa and wait 30 - 90 seconds for optimum laryngeal relaxation before proceeding with intubation. Each spray delivers 2.3 mg of lidocaine allowing you to calculate the total dose administered. This is particularly useful when other local anaesthetic techniques are used, reducing the risk of toxicity to the patient.

Intubeaze is the only local anaesthetic laryngopharyngeal spray licensed for use in cats. It is available in a 10 ml vial containing approximately 72 sprays with a shelf life of 3 months following first opening. Intubeaze makes intubation easier and if you intubate cats, Intubeaze will undoubtedly become a practice essential.
